This meeting of leading German and International scientists in biophysics takes places every other year in Germany. It is hosted by the German Biophysics Society (DGfB). After the meeting took us all to Konstanz in 2022, the 2024 conference was organized in Leipzig. The last time, Leipzig hosted this conference, was in the year 2000

Cellular biophysics is a branch of biophysics that focuses on the physical principles of cellular function. It performs a bridging function, starting from the atomic or molecular understanding of proteins, membranes and polynucleotides to the highly complex and highly integrated systems of organelles and whole cells. Finally, the study of tissues and organs ties in with medical biophysics. We look forward to seeing you in Drübeck.

The theme of this international meeting is "From Model to Cellular Membranes", and we expect to bring together about 80 established and young scientists from Europe and overseas in an inspiring environment of scientific exchange and discussion. We look forward to seeing you in Drübeck.

Join us for an interactive meeting with cutting edge presentations from experts in divers methodologies and topics, from high resolution single molecule to structural analyses or simulations, and from DNA interactions to protein materials or membrane stability.

This international conference is held every two years and features an exciting program covering topics of the three subsections of the German Biophysical Society: Molecular Biophysics, Membrane Biophysics, and Cellular Biophysics. It is intended to bring together experimentalists and theoreticians presenting latest results on method developments and applications in the field of biophysics. The conference offers an ideal setting for the scientific exchange of junior and senior scientists coming from multidisciplinary research fields.

It is our great pleasure to announce the 2022 Symposium of the Molecular Biophysics Section to be held online on June 17, 2022. Due to the Covid situation, we chose this format for this year's meeting instead of our usual, beloved Hünfeld monastery venue. You can download the conference poster here (pdf). We’re looking forward to hear exciting talks from our invited speakers from Germany and Scandinavia and from the junior speakers, which will be selected from the submitted abstracts. During the interactive poster session, we will select three contributions for a poster prize.

The upcoming meeting aims at covering up-to-date topics of experimental and computational biophysics of cellular membranes and their synthetic models. The individual parts of the program will focus on protein-lipid interactions, the development of new membrane model systems, membrane pore formation but also the development of new biophysical approaches.

The SFB 1078 kindly invites you to the International Workshop of the German Biophysical Society. Save the date: Fr. 9. August - Su, 11. August 2019. Venue will be the BBZ Verdi at the lake Wannsee in Berlin.
