Scientific Project Manager & Science Writer

(preferably full-time employment according to FWF standard salary for postdocs; initially fixed term for two years with possible extension; position to be filled as soon as possible)

We are looking for a new team member with a keen interest and a strong track record in communicating research results. In your role as Scientific Project Manager & Science Writer, you will be responsible for coordinating research projects, visualising results, and writing manuscripts in close cooperation with laboratory researchers at all career stages. You will work in a dynamic, inspiring, and interdisciplinary environment amongst enthusiastic scientists dedicated to elucidating the molecular details of how membrane proteins function in the complex milieu of a lipid membrane. You will support our research projects by providing strategic input and feedback and by assisting with the presentation and communication of our latest scientific findings.

Your responsibilities

·     Science writing for progress reports, grant applications, and peer-reviewed publications
·     Visualising research results and models for written publications and oral presentations
·     Setting up and maintaining a website and contributing to science communication
·     Coordinating and managing research projects (mostly funded by third parties)
·     Identifying grant opportunities and possibilities for collaboration
·     Attending and contributing to group and collaboration meetings
·     Participating in third-mission tasks and public relations

Your profile

·     Doctoral degree or equivalent in the life sciences or a related scientific field
·     Excellent writing skills as required for scientific publications and grant applications
·     Very good written and spoken English language skills, at least good command of German
·     Facility with computer programs for visualising and presenting research results and models
·     Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, collaborators, and other scientists
·     Experience in science management and communication (e.g., public relations, social media)
·     Self-driven, independent, and responsible way of working

The minimum salary corresponds to the FWF standard salary for postdocs; the actual salary may be higher if there are previous employment periods eligible for inclusion.
