…pursues directly and exclusively the promotion and dissemination of science and research in the field of biophysics, uniting scientists and others involved in biophysical research in order to identify and meet their specific needs.
The society is based in Frankfurt am Main. Anyone who has proven him- or herself through scientific work in the field of biophysics or has decisively promoted biophysics can become a member.
At present, the society is divided into three sections:
1. Molecular biophysics
2. Membrane biophysics
3. Cellular biophysics
The society alternates with the European Biophysics Conference (EBSA-Congress) in organizing an annual meeting. In addition, 3 symposia are organized, often in cooperation with other European biophysics societies
